The 10 Commandments
Can you name the 10 Commandments?
- You shall have no other gods before me
- You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below
- You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name
- Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy
- Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you
- You shall not murder
- You shall not commit adultery
- You shall not steal
- You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor
- You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor
What are the two greatest commandments?
Mark 12:29-31
The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'There is no commandment greater than these.
Was Abraham saved because he followed the 10 commandments? (*Hint: God gave the 10 commandments to Moses, long after Abraham)
Romans 4:1-3
What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, discovered in this matter? If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God. 3What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."
Romans 3:28-31
For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law
